The Interlochen Review is an online literary journal crafted by the creative writing students at Interlochen Arts Academy. The journal welcomes talented high school writers, singer-songwriters, and artists (grades 9-12 or postgraduate high school year) from around the globe to submit their work.

Submission Requirements
1. General Rules
You may submit up to six pieces total (except in Visual Arts), and each piece must be uploaded separately. Every submission should include a short bio, but your name should not appear anywhere within the work itself. Work previously recognized by Scholastic, YoungArts, or published in Red Wheelbarrow is allowed; all other previously published work is not.
Simultaneous submissions are accepted as long as you notify the editors if your work is chosen elsewhere.
2. Writing and Songs
- Fiction: <5,000 words, flash fiction is welcome.
- Poetry: Long-form poems and prose poetry
- Nonfiction: <5,000 words, lyric essays and flash essays are welcome.
- Hybrid Genres: Includes mixed-media, film essays, photo essays, new media, etc.
- Songs: Lyrics will be published with the audio/video.
- Scripts/Screenplays: <40 pages in standard manuscript format (for scripts), or in standard screenplay format (for screenplays).
3. Visual Arts
- Up to 10 pieces; 300 dpi, max 8″×10″.
- Please list medium(s) use to create each piece, any medium is accepted
4. Visual Arts Portfolio
- Up to 20 related pieces, uploaded as one submission.
- One portfolio per student; same specs as above.
- Please list medium(s) use to create each piece, any medium is accepted
- All portfolios must include an artistic statement explaining how the works connect aesthetically or thematically and what themes or artistic processes the artist is exploring..
