Frequently asked questions
The Foundations of Research is designed for students in grades 8–9 who are new to academic research. It’s a group course that builds core skills in research, writing, and argumentation. The Emerging Researchers Program is a 1-on-1 mentorship program for grades 10–11 in which students undertake a fully independent research project from start to finish. Many students take Foundations first, then advance into the Emerging Researchers Program.
Yes. The Emerging Researchers Program is entirely student-driven, meaning students develop and pursue their own research questions under mentor guidance. Topics are shaped around the student’s genuine academic interests within their chosen mentor’s area of expertise.
Mentors guide every student through submission to at least 2–5 student academic journals and research platforms. Outstanding papers may also be published on the Propelia Review online platform. While publication is never guaranteed, the program is explicitly designed to produce work at that standard.
Absolutely. The completed paper can be submitted as an academic supplement to college applications, demonstrating research ability and intellectual depth in a way that grades and test scores alone cannot.
