Competition Details

1. Rounds

The IBO consists of a Global Grand Test and the International Final round, completely online. 

Global Grand Test (Qualification Round):

  • Format: Individual online exam
  • Content: 300 multiple-choice questions over 150 minutes, assessing fundamental business knowledge

International Final (Team Round):

  • Format: Team-based
  • Team formation: Top performers from each nation/region form teams based on their rankings. If a region has fewer than 50 participants, one team is formed (1st–3rd place). If 50 or more, two teams are formed (1st–3rd and 4th–6th place)
  • The final round consists of 2 modules: a Material-based Objective Exam and a Case Presentation
  • Modules:
    • Material-Based Objective Exam: 120 minutes, 100 questions based on 5 business materials
    • Case Presentation: 7-day preparation culminating in a 7-minute video presentation

2. Schedule

  • Registration Period: January 1 – July 16, 2026
  • Global Grand Test Exam Date: July 25, 2026
  • International Final Round Case Presentation: August 8-14, 2026
  • Material-Based Objective Exam: August 15, 2026

  • Global Grand Test: 4 tiers of Grade Certificates (Highest Distinction, Higher Distinction, Distinction, Excellence)
  • Final Round: Gold, Silver, Bronze medals based on total scores; top-performing teams and individuals receive special recognition
