Class Introduction
Introduction to French is a class intended for students with little to no French background. During the class students will take part in the four main areas of language learning: speaking, writing, reading, and listening. As we progress in the class, students will be expected to use as much French as they can, to help improve their skills. Successful completion of the course will enable students to reach the A1 level (CEFR) or Novice Mid level (ACTFL) in French proficiency.
Teacher Background
With over 10 years of experience, the teacher has been teaching all levels of French in a Dual Credit High School program. Additionally, he is an AP French Reader at the College Board. His previous students have achieved 4s and 5s in AP French.
Outcome
After completing the course, students are expected to reach the following goals:

- Focus on cultural norms and processes, especially in regard to the appropriate use of the language
- To begin to build a base of French vocabulary through the use of reading, writing, listening, and comprehension skills in the target language
Learning Topics
The focus will be on: Improving listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in a classroom environment, providing students with practical language knowledge and exposure to materials introducing French cultures worldwide, and fostering an understanding of the diversity and importance of French.
