Class Introduction

This Latin Level 3 course will enhance students’ proficiency in Latin grammar, syntax, and morphology, focusing on more advanced concepts and nuanced language structures. We will immerse ourselves in a wide range of Latin texts, from prose to poetry, delving deeper into the literary and historical contexts of ancient Rome. Students will expand their Latin vocabulary, refine their translation techniques, and analyze classical texts with greater independence and accuracy.

Throughout the course, we will emphasize critical reading and interpretative skills, equipping students with the knowledge and confidence to approach adapted and unadapted Latin passages. Additionally, students will continue to build their language skills, including vocabulary enrichment and grammatical precision—assets that support success in standardized testing and advanced language courses.

We will evaluate students’ proficiency and place them into the appropriate class to ensure they learn at a pace that matches their current skills.

Schedule

Latin Level 3: 20 classes, 2 hours each class, 40 hours of classes in total.

There will be a dedicated NLE Intermediate Reading prep course (20 hours, or 10 classes) that students may choose to enroll in upon completing Latin Level 3. This focused preparation will help students build confidence in reading comprehension and cultural knowledge.
