National Mythology Exam (NME)
The National Mythology Exam is an annual assessment administered by the American Classical League (ACL) to students in the United States who are studying classical mythology. The National Mythology Exams comprise two tests: the Pegasus Mythology Exam, and the Medusa Mythology Exam.

Medusa Mythology Exam: Grade 9 to 12
Pegasus Mythology Exam: Grade 3 to 8
Registration and Shipping Fee
$7 per student plus $25 school registration fees. Current ACL members receive a 10% discount

Competition Details
1. Medusa Mythology Exam (MME)
- Format: Online multiple-choice test.
- Duration: 40 minutes, unless a student has approved testing accommodations.
2. Pegasus Mythology Exam (PME)
- Format: Online multiple-choice test.
Duration: 40 minutes, unless a student has approved testing accommodations.
Questions by grade level:
- Grades 3–4: First 30 questions on general mythology
- Grades 5–6: First 30 general mythology questions + 10 thematic questions
- Grades 7–8: All 50 questions, including general mythology, thematic, and extension questions
