Aralia Student's Achievement
On December 17, 2025, Yale University officially released admission decisions for the Yale Young Global Scholars summer program through the Early Decision cycle, which closed on October 15. In this early application cycle, an Aralia student was admitted to the Innovation in Science & Technology track of Yale Young Global Scholars.

YYGS is one of the most prestigious summer programs in the United States for high school students. In the October Early Decision round alone, the program received over 4,300 applications from students across 135 countries. Our student stood out among an exceptionally competitive pool to earn a place in this distinguished program.

About Yale Young Global Scholars
Yale Young Global Scholars (YYGS) is one of the world’s leading academic summer programs for high school students. The two-week program is hosted by Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. Each year, YYGS receives over 12,000 applications from students representing more than 150 countries and all 50 U.S. states, and admits approximately 1,950 students. With an acceptance rate of around 16%, YYGS is considered one of the most prestigious and competitive summer programs in the United States.
The YYGS curriculum is designed with a strong interdisciplinary focus, allowing students to explore cutting-edge academic topics across STEM, social sciences, humanities, politics, law, economics, and sustainable development. Through lectures, small-group discussions, and collaborative projects, students not only expand their academic knowledge but also develop critical thinking skills and a global outlook.
The program offers three main academic tracks:
- Innovation in Science & Technology (the track to which the Aralia student was admitted)
- Politics of Law and Economics
- Solving Global Challenges
The program is designed for students in grades 10–11. YYGS uses a holistic application review process, evaluating applicants based on multiple factors such as extracurricular activities, essays, academic performance, and letters of recommendation. Notably, YYGS distributes over 3 million dollars in need-based financial aid each year, applied equitably to both U.S. and international students.
YYGS has two application rounds each year:
- Early Action: October 15, 2025
- Regular Decision: January 7, 2026

Students will learn how to write college application essays. During the first two group sessions, students will be shown examples of strong and weak essays, in addition to given guidance on how to write the Common Application Essay, the “Why School” Essay, and the UC Application Essay. Following the two group sessions, students will have the opportunity to work one-on-one with the teacher.
