Class Introduction
In this course, students will learn how to express their unique perspectives on pressing environmental challenges, enhancing both their writing and critical thinking skills. Through guided instruction and personalized feedback, participants will leave the class with a polished piece of writing ready for submission.
Designed for middle and high school students, this course is perfect for aspiring writers who are passionate about protecting the environment and are eager to share their vision with the world.
Class Outcomes
- Produce a polished creative writing piece that is ready for submission to the Ocean Awareness Writing Competition.
- Develop advanced writing skills, including narrative structure, voice, and effective storytelling techniques.
- Receive personalized feedback from an experienced writing instructor, enabling them to improve both content and style.
Taught by
A professor with a Master’s from the University of London and a Bachelor’s in Creative Writing from Pepperdine. She has judged and taught for the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, founded an award-winning literary magazine, and helped many students publish their work.
Feedback
Students and their parents will receive brief feedback after each class, regarding the student’s general participation in class. Students will also receive feedback on graded assignments via email. Individual writing assignments will receive continual and extensive on text feedback from the teacher as well as peer feedback.
