Class Introduction
We will explore the basic principles that underlie these fields and how they help us understand the workings of human biology. Topics covered will include the structure and regulation of genes, the structure and synthesis of proteins, and the organization and functioning of multicellular systems. Throughout the course, we will apply the concepts we learn to understanding the human body and how it functions.
Outcome
After completing the course, students are expected to reach the following goals:
- Learn biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology and cell biology
- Apply basic principles to understand human biology, including the structure and regulation of genes, the structure and synthesis of proteins, and multicellular systems
Feedback
Students and their parents will receive brief feedback after each class regarding the student’s general participation in class. Students will also receive feedback on graded assignments via email. At the end of the course, the student will receive a final report card, which thoroughly speaks to their overall participation in the course, including major assignments.
