River of Words Poetry and Art Contest is a free, international youth poetry and art contest, the largest in the world, inspires students aged 5 to 19 to translate their observations into creative expression. River of Words® (ROW) is a program of The Center for Environmental Literacy and a part of the Kalmanovitz School of Education, at Saint Mary’s College of California.
Created by the University of Delaware Horn Entrepreneurship center in 2012, the Diamond Challenge provides a unique opportunity for 10,000+ teens to learn about entrepreneurship while putting their ideas into action. This is a high school entrepreneurship competition, and high school students participate in a year-long program. They will be developing ideas to address pressing challenges they’ve identified.

Tom Howard/John H. Reid Fiction & Essay Contest is created by Winning Writers, the organization finding and creating quality resources for poets and writers. Winning Writers is one of the “101 Best Websites for Writers” (Writer’s Digest, 2015-2019). For this contest, a story is any short work of fiction, and an essay is any short work of nonfiction. Students can submit as many entries as they prefer. The final judge is Mina Manchester, is an Editor-at-large at Five South and former Assistant Editor for Narrative Magazine.
