The Ann Arbor District Library hosts "It's All Write!" Teen Writing Contest, inviting young authors to showcase their talents. Participants can submit their work in three categories: Grades 6-8, Grades 9 & 10, and Grades 11 & 12.

Competition Details

1. Eligibility

The contest is open only to Washtenaw County, Michigan residents. The competition is divided into the following three categories based on the age and skill level of the participants: Grades 6-8, Grades 9-10, and Grades 11-12

2. Prizes

Poem: 

  • 1st Place: $100 
  • 2nd Place: $75
  • 3rd Place: $50

Flash Fiction: 

  • 1st Place: $125
  • 2nd Place: $100
  • 3rd Place: $75

Short Story:

  • 1st Place: $250
  • 2nd Place: $150
  • 3rd Place: $100

Submission Requirements

Each submission must be written by a single author, and students should only submit one entry per writing form. Students can participate in three writing forms: Poetry, Flash Fiction, and Short Story.

  • Poem: Poem must be no longer than 2 typed pages 
  • Flash Fiction: The story must be 75-200 words total 
  • Short Story: Story must be 1000-2500 words total
