Class Introduction
In this course, we will be exploring the fundamental concepts of mathematics, including variables, algebraic expressions, equations, inequalities, functions, exponent rules and manipulation, polynomials, linear equations, two-variable inequalities, systems of equations, radicals, word problems, quadratic equations, and factoring. Throughout the course, we will use graphing calculators to help us understand and apply these concepts in real-world scenarios.
Outcome
After completing the course, students are expected to reach the following goals:
- Understand variables, algebraic expressions, equations, inequalities, functions, exponent rules and manipulation, polynomials, linear equations, two-variable inequalities, systems of equations, radicals, word problems, quadratic equations, and factoring.
- Solve and graph equations and inequalities, including linear and quadratic equations.
- Use a graphing calculator to support their understanding and problem-solving.
Feedback
Students and their parents will receive brief feedback after each class regarding the student’s general participation in class. Students will also receive feedback on graded assignments via email. At the end of the course, the student will receive a final report card, which thoroughly speaks to their overall participation in the course, including major assignments.
