Class Format

Class Introduction

This course will guide students in preparing for the Scholar of Tomorrow Essay Competition and discuss award-winning strategies. Students can participate in one of the two categories: 

  • Economics
  • Psychology
Course Content

Students will receive individualized support throughout every stage of the writing process: from understanding the competition prompt and developing a research question to conducting credible research, organizing a logical argument, and refining their final submission. Instructors provide detailed feedback on essay structure, use of evidence, analysis, citations, and writing style while ensuring the essay aligns with the competition’s judging criteria.

Class Structure

Approximately 10 hours of one-on-one sessions, with the option to adjust the number of hours based on the student’s specific situation and needs.

Instructors

Psychology Instructor: A psychology professor at a top U.S. university with over 20 years of research experience and more than a decade of teaching, he specializes in psychology, cognitive neuroscience, and academic research. He has mentored students in research and prestigious competitions such as John Locke, Scholar of Tomorrow, IPsyO, and Brain Bee, with research published in leading scientific journals.

Economics Instructors: An experienced economics professor and researcher with a background at leading academic institutions, he specializes in research, writing, and essay-competition preparation. His students have earned top honors in prestigious competitions, including the John Locke Essay Competition and Harvard International Review Essay Competition.

Feedback

Students and their parents will receive brief feedback after each class regarding the student’s general participation in class. Students will also receive feedback on graded assignments via email.
