Introduction: The National Personal Finance Challenge is a competitive event designed to test high school student’s knowledge and skills in personal finance. The challenge consists of online tests and a live, in-person competition. The competition is open to high school students in the United States. It is divided into two divisions: the Varsity Division for 9th-12th grade students and the Junior Varsity Division for 7th-8th grade students. The National Finals takes place from June 4-5, 2023 in Cleveland, Ohio
Competition Format: The Council runs state-level competitions for Economic Education affiliates that organize them. The National Semi-Finals will be scheduled by region for one day between May 6-May 26. This round asks teams to answer online multiple-choice questions. And the National Finals will ask students to create a financial plan for a detailed fictitious family scenario (case study). Students will present to and answer questions from an expert panel of judges comprised of economists and financial professionals. This round will be held on June 3rd.
Division:
- The High School Division is for students in a high school level personal finance course.
- The Middle School Division is intended for students enrolled in a middle school-level personal finance course.
National Final prizes: Top 4 teams will receive a banner with cash prizes ($2,000 for first place, $1,000 for second place, $500 for third place, and $250 for fourth place)
